Los Angeles is a city built on stories. But what if you could step inside the scenes you love most — and do it your way? That’s exactly what Paul Preston offers through The Movie Guys, a private, tailor-made movie locations tour designed especially for film lovers. With space for just 1–4 guests, it’s an experience that’s personal, playful, and packed with film history.
The story began with a dream — a TV show inspired by iconic critics Siskel and Ebert, but with a comic twist. When the show wasn’t picked up, Paul realised the idea didn’t need to stay on screen. It became The Movie Guys, a film-focused brand that quickly expanded into podcasts, parties, comedy shows… and eventually, this immersive tour experience.
“Movies and comedy have been my lifelong passion,” Paul says. “This deep dive into making engaging entertainment about the greatest art form on Earth was inevitable.”
Forget bus tours with cookie-cutter commentary. The Movie Guys tour is:

Bonus: On your way, you’ll also see iconic LA landmarks like the Hollywood Sign, Sunset Strip, and Capitol Records Building.
Love Tarantino? Paul’s done a full Pulp Fiction + Reservoir Dogs day. Obsessed with Fast and Furious? He’s got the locations. Planning a tour around a single film, genre, or director? Just ask — themed tours are a hit.
How does Paul choose his locations? It started with a birthday gift — a self-guided tour of L.A.’s coolest film spots. It was such a hit that he mapped out the whole city and turned his passion into a business. Now, no two tours are ever the same.
“I try to stick to popular films,” he explains. “But I always leave room for wildcards — just in case someone loves Memento or Poltergeist.”
“One guest flew in from England wearing an E.T. t-shirt. When we stood outside Elliott’s house, she was moved to tears. That’s why I do this.”
Tour Length: 3 hours standard, with options to extend
Booking Cut-Off: Midnight the night before (for route planning)
Group Size: 1–4 guests per vehicle
Vehicles: Paul drives a Prius (ideal for navigating tight Hollywood streets). Larger groups can bring their own car, with Paul as your guide.
Pro tip: Choose a film-famous restaurant as your final stop — a great way to end the tour and sneak in a bonus 13th location.
Paul’s always expanding the tour. From new additions like Barbie filming sites to genre-specific tours (horror, action, ’80s), the reel keeps rolling.
“The Studio on AppleTV+ shot at Musso and Frank and The Smoke House. Barbie’s scenes in Century City? That’s going on the tour!”
